Experienced on the water? Or a complete novice? Looks exciting, but not sure which is right for you?
We’ve got something for everyone; and many of our members and their families enjoy more than one activity.

Windsurfing

The energetic choice: windsurfing requires good balance, upper body strength to pull up the sail, physical stamina, and the enthusiasm to get out there in all weathers. But the high-speed exhilaration is worth it!

Sailing

With sailing, you’re spoilt for choice: on your own or with friends or family, racing or social; there’s a boat for everyone. You’ll need agility to move around the hull and confidence to learn the skills, but we’ll look after the ropes – literally and metaphorically – to get you started and gaining the most fun from the wind. Its one of the only sports due to our Racing handicap system where all the family can compete together.

Membership & Bookings

Glossop Sailing Club welcomes new members of any age, and we will be pleased to talk to you at any of our events. . This includes a dinghy berth if required, and storage of windsurfing rigs can be arranged.
You can also book training courses, participation in events, and equipment hire on our systems too.

Duties

Glossop Sailing Club is a Community Amateur Sports Club, run on a not-for-profit basis by its members, who share the club’s duties and responsibilities throughout the year.
We ask all our members to volunteer for a few days each year to help run events as safety boat crew or Officer of the Day to help run the activities of the day, galley, or shore crew. You can book and manage your duties using the DutyMan roster.

Help run our club

Many of our members have professional skills, and we welcome your help, either as a regular on our Executive Committee, or in action groups and work parties. As our members become more confident, many of them become instructors, passing their skills on to a new generation of novices. The club runs subsidised RYA Instructor courses to encourage this: for our teenage members, these are valuable qualifications for summer jobs abroad.
